1951 - The Man Who Disappeared - John Longden as Sherlock Holmes and Campbell Singer as Dr. Watson. An An adaptation of Doyle’s short story The Man with the Twisted Lip. Holmes discover that a wealthy businessman has a strange secret. Originally the pilot for a proposed television series, this film ended up as a B-movie short. John Longden and this show may have inspired the Holmes bust for the 221b reconstruction for the London Exhibition of 1951. The bust we can still see at Sherlock Holmes pub of London. The resemblance is strong and the show was broadcast a few months before the Exhibition.
